Choosing the right PLA filament
Frequently asked questions
- Which PLA color should I choose? Our range includes a wide variety of colors, from the classic (black, white, gray) to bright hues. The choice depends on your project. Light colors are ideal for subsequent painting.
- What packaging do you offer? Our range of PLA filaments is available in several packaging sizes to suit all needs: Sample, 500g, 750g, 1kg, 5kg, 10kg.
For specific packaging requirements, please contact us. - Is PLA suitable for functional parts? PLA is suitable for parts with low mechanical and thermal stress. For more resistant parts, consider other materials such asABS or PETG.
- How should PLA be stored? Store your coils in a dry place, ideally in an airtight bag with silica gel. Humidity can affect print quality.
Common PLA applications
- Rapid prototyping
- Decorative objects and figurines
- Architectural models
- Educational projects
- Lightweight functional parts
Printing tips for optimum results
- Temperature setting: Start at 200°C and adjust according to results.
- Platen adhesion: A platen heated to 60°C can improve adhesion for large parts.
- Print speed :
- Standard printers: 30-90 mm/s, depending on the complexity of your model.
- Modern high-speed printers: up to 400 mm/s for some advanced models.
The optimum speed depends on several factors:
- Model complexity and detail
- Quality of printer and components
- Extrusion and plate temperature
- Desired final print quality
For beginners or high-precision prints, we recommend starting with lower speeds (30-60 mm/s) and gradually increasing. Modern high-speed printers can achieve high speeds while maintaining good quality, but often require fine-tuning and a good command of print parameters.
- Cooling: Use the cooling fan for sharp details.
- Storage: Keep filament dry to avoid printing problems.
